Before becoming an architectural photographer, I originally aspired to be an architect. I practiced architecture for eleven years, working for two firms. I was recruited by the second firm, which happened to have clients who owned camera stores. Recognizing my interest in photography, they suggested building a darkroom, saying, “If you do well, we will do well.” I attended workshops led by Julius Shulman, which helped lay the foundation for my photography career—an experience that began forty-four years ago. Looking back, the transition into photography was easy, as I already had many contacts from my time in architecture.
